Propane tanks in this range fall into a very wide variety of uses.

Tanks in the 33 - 40 pound (approximately 7 - 10 gallons) range are typically
used for motor vehicle purposes. From supplemental fuel usage on
the average consumer car, to providing the full fuel supply for commercial
vehicles, such as forklifts and others, propane is a very environmentally friendly fuel choice. These tanks are usually about 2.5 to 3 feet tall by about 1 foot wide.

Tanks in the 20 pound (approximately 5 gallons) range and smaller are most commonly used for barbecue cooking and small outdoor heaters. These are not the only uses for the small portable tanks, though. Other uses include insect traps, torches, glass blowing and more. These tanks are usually about 1.5 feet tall by about 1 foot wide.
