For residential use, this typically means that the house is on a full propane-based system including multiple appliances. It is also very common for these tanks to be placed underground to hide them and save space.

The more commonly use for tanks of this size, though, are commercial and industrial applications.

Depending on volume and BTU use needed, multiple tanks can be connected together. This is an advantage for larger construction sites that may go through one tank in a short time.
