Belvidere, NJ Propane

Within Warren County, New Jersey, lies Belvidere township. Home to nearly 2,700 residents, Belvidere was incorporated in 1845 and is located in the eastern section of Lehigh Valley. The town, which recently celebrated its 175thanniversary, was created from portions of Oxford Township based on the results of a town referendum held on the same day. The town name, “Belvidere” means “beautiful to see” in Italian. Belvidere directly borders White Township in Warren County and Northampton County in Pennsylvania.

Some of the most notable locations within Belvidere are: 

Belvidere Cemetery – Created in 1834 before the town’s creation, the cemetery is the burial site of many Civil War veterans and historical figures. During Belividere’s town’s annual Victorian Days celebration, a visit to Belvidere Cemetery is traditional. 

Four Sisters Winery – A popular winery known for its chocolate wine and warmed spiced red wine. The Four Sisters Winery was founded in 1984 by four sisters, local to Belvidere. Since its creation, the winery has become a popular meeting area for local residents and visitors. 

Robert Morris House – Former home of Robert Morris, financed and famed signer of the Declaration of Independence despite having abstained from the vote.

Foul Rift – a Class II rapids located south of Belvidere on the Delaware River. The rapids have a drop point of close to 22 feet and spans roughly half a mile. The Foul Rift is known for being one of the most dangerous areas within the river’s 301-mile span.

Warren County Courthouse – Built in 1826 by L.H. Lewis, the Warren County Courthouse serves as Warren county’s county seat. After a renovation in 1953 and an expansion in 1961, the courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Today, Belvidere has a total area of 1.48 sq miles and a population density of 2,091 people per sq mile. In the 2000 United States Census, Belvidere reported just over 1,050 households, 716 families, and demographic makeup of predominantly Caucasian residents (98.02%). One of the largest employers within Belvidere is DSM Nutritional Products. DSM currently possesses over 250,000 square feet of facilities on the town’s border and manufactures various products, including arachidonic acid and beta-carotene. Propane is often used by the manufacturing industry and has a variety of uses ranging from production energy to heating spacious facilities.
