Propane Green Lane, Pennsylvania

Green Lane is a small borough in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania with a population of around 500 people, making it the Upper Perkiomen Valley’s smallest municipality. The children of the residents in this area go to the schools that are part of the Upper Perkiomen School District and the Boyertown Area School District. Located in one of the most beautiful and open areas of Montgomery County, Green Lane was established in 1875 and was once part of Marlborough Township. The first European settlements began around 1730 and included Swiss, German, and French Huguenots. Encouraged to come to Pennsylvania by William Penn, immigrants were issued land grants to those willing to settle here. Within the 0.3 square miles of land is the location of Green Lane Park parking lot. The actual park is much larger than the borough as Green Lane Park is Montgomery County’s largest County Park, at approximately 3,400 acres. The variety of landscape includes rolling hills, forested uplands, open meadows, wetlands and three bodies of water - Green Lane Reservoir, Deep Creek Lake, and Knight Lake. Today’s Green Lane Park is the result of the collaborative efforts of Montgomery County and the Philadelphia Suburban Water Company over 40 years ago. Its earliest roots, however, began in 1939 when the Montgomery County Commissioners dedicated 425 acres as Upper Perkiomen Valley Park.
