Hampton, NJ Propane

Located within Hunterdon County, the borough of Hampton is home to 1400 New Jerseyians. Originally incorporated in 1895 as Junction Borough from portions of Lebanon Township and Bethlehem Township, the borough’s name was changed to Hampton in 1909. The name “Junction” was due to the area being a crossing location for the Central Railroad of New Jersey and the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad. In 1931 Hampton received additional territory from Glen Gardner borough and Bethlehem Township.

Hampton borough is located on the banks of the Musconetcong River and was first settled in 1800. In 1800, the borough was documented as having a store, hotel, wheelwright shop, grist mill, cabinet manufacturer, schoolhouse, and more than 25 homes. Students graduating middle school in Hunterdon County are eligible to apply to attend a variety of high school programs offered by Hunterdon County Vocational School District, which provides career and technical education in Raritan Township.

In May 2010, the area was documented as having more than 8.8 miles of roadways which today are maintained by the municipality, Hunterdon County, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
