Morton, PA Propane

Morton is a borough in Delaware County, Pennsylvania with a population of around 2,669 and a total area of about .36 square miles, all of it being land. Morton is bordered by Springfield Township to the north, east, and west; it’s bordered to the south by Ridley Township. Morton is a part of the Springfield School District and they are served by the Springfield Literacy Center. The borough was named after John Morton, who signed the Declaration of Independence. In 1776, Morton was incorporated into Ridley Township and Springfield Township. Morton is also home to the Morton Train Station, which was built in 1880 by Joseph Wilson. Joseph Wilson is one of the Wilson Brothers which owns the Wilson Brothers Architectural firm in Morton. They worked on the Morton stop on the Pennsylvania Railroad West Chester line in 1854. 

While it’s now a BJ’s Wholesale Club, Morton used to be home to the Piasecki Helicopter Corporation. It was opened as a helicopter manufacturing plant in 1947, and it produced the Piasecki H-21 and the Piasecki HUP-1. The company was incorporated into Boeing in 1960 and the plant was moved to a new site along the Delaware River.
