Propane Pennsylvania

Propane Palm, Pennsylvania

Palm is an unincorporated community that is part of the Upper Hanover Township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania that lies along Pennsylvania Route 29 between Hereford and East Greenville. The Hosensack Creek flows from the northeast into the Perkiomen Creek in the village. Palm is the site of one of the five remaining Schwenkfelder Churches in the United States. The Schwenkfelder Church is a small American Christian body rooted in the 16th-century Protestant Reformation teachings of Caspar Schwenkfeld von Ossig. Although followers have held the teachings of Schwenkfeld since the 16th century, the Schwenkfelder Church did not come into existence until the 20th century, due in large part to Schwenkfeld's emphasis on inner spirituality over outward form. He also labored for a fellowship of all believers and one church. The township’s rich soil attracted excellent German farmers who settled in the area. Industrial activity was second only to agriculture in importance during this early period. The primary industry was building construction. This was facilitated by utilizing the Hosensack Hills, which provided granite boulders that were split into building materials. Waterpower was also available from the Perkiomen Creek and propelled water wheels for five gristmills and four sawmills. Palm is also the birthplace of a science fiction writer, publisher, and minister Lloyd Arthur Eshbach.
