At the top of a small hill in the center of the Delaware Township of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, sits Rosemont. The heart of the community holds the intersection where Raven Rock Rosemont Road and Rosemont Ringoes Road (Country Road 609) meet. With an elevation of 315 feet, this unincorporated community, or area that does not have its own municipal government, is part of Delaware Township, which is home to over 4,000 residents. The historical Rosemont Cemetery is a piece of history that the residents of the community hold dear. Located within the cemetery is the gravesite of Revolutionary War Captain Daniel Bray, who was known for helping Washington in the Crossing of the Delaware River. The grave is fairly easy to find despite how large the cemetery is because of the sign in front of the cemetery’s front wall, which points to the location. Full of history, Rosemont also has a historical marker along the right side of Kingwood Stockton Road (County Route 519) when traveling south. The marker reads “Called Cross Keys Tavern from 1754 after William Rittenhouse’s establishment. Became Rosemont 1848.” What once was home to heroic soldiers in the Revolutionary war, is now home to residents who do their best to remember.
