Parkesburgh

Parkesburg is a borough in Chester County, Pennsylvania with a population of about 3,593 lovely people and a total area of around 1.27 square miles (all land except for .01 square miles of water). Parkesburg wasn’t always known as Parkesburg. Up until 1872, the town was named after the Fountain Inn. The town was then named after John G. Parke, a noted politician. The Fountain Inn was a tavern built in 1734 that was functioning until 1836 when it was turned into Parkesburg’s first post office. The Fountain Inn/Post Office is now a private residence, but Parkesburg also has the Parkesburg National Bank and Parkesburg School, which are both noted places on the National Register of Historic Places.
