Barrington

Barrington is a borough in Camden County, New Jersey that is home to almost 7,000 residents. The populated area was given a name by William Simpson, one of the partners who developed the area. He named it after his home in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. In 1917, the Centre Township was broken apart to form what is now two separate boroughs, Barrington and Lawnside. The borough had a total area of 1.58 square miles, all of which was just untouched land. Now it is the home to over 1,800 families, which translates to a population of almost 7,000 people. Within the limits of the borough are various schools, churches, and restaurants. One notable restaurant in Barrington is the Old Rail Tavern off of Clements Bridge Road. The Old Rail Tavern is a local watering hole that has been a social gathering place for decades.
