Jobstown

Jobstown is an unincorporated community that is part of the Springfield Township in Burlington County, New Jersey. The township enjoys a rich history of agriculture and that tradition continues today as Springfield leads the way in preserving farmland and open space. Jobstown is home to many different attractions. Founded in the 1870s by the wealthy tobacco manufacturer Pierre Lorillard IV, Rancocas Farm was an American thoroughbred horse racing stud farm and racing stable located on Monmouth Road, also known as County Road 537, in Jobstown. Lorillard built his stable into one of the premier thoroughbred breeding and training operations in the United States. In 1881, Lorillard’s horse Iroquois became the first American-owned and -bred horse to win a European classic race. Other places in Jobstown include a post office, churches, Springfield Township municipal offices and park, and small businesses. The Redwing Airport is a privately owned general aviation airport that is just one mile south of the central business district. Today, most of the residents of Jobstown work for nearby industries, and much of the original farm land has been returned back to nature. The town’s charm, however, has remained unchanged. Jobstown sees itself as a typical small town where neighbors greet each other and take care of each other.
