Ridley Park

Ridley Park, a borough in Delaware County, Pennsylvania is home to about 7,000 residents. The Lenape actually populated the region along the Delaware River several centuries before the appearance of European explorers and traders. The Okehocking Tribe of the Lenni Lenape Nation established small, but stable villages along the main tributaries of the river. Native Americans undoubtedly impacted and constructed the environment through their network of paths. These were laid out for contact and travel purposes. The first roads of the area grew from their footpaths. The borough was originally named after a place located in Cheshire, England. John Morton, a signer of The Declaration of Independence, was born and raised in a log cabin near East Ridley Avenue. Another interesting piece of historical information is that the 2012 movie, Silver Linings Playbook takes place in and around the area of Ridley Park!
