Uwchland is a township in Chester County, Pennsylvania with a population of about 18,977 people. The area of Uwchland Township is about 10.45 square miles, with .06 square miles of that total area being water. Uwchland is home to both the Uwchlan Meetinghouse and The Lionville Historic District (https://www.uwchlan.com/170/Historical-Commission), both of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Uwchlan Meetinghouse is a historic Quaker meetinghouse that was built in 1756. In 1777-1778, the Meetinghouse was used as a hospital by the Continental Army at Valley Forge. Uwchlan Meetinghouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. The Lionville Historic District includes 39 buildings that date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. There are a variety of buildings included in the Lionville Historic District that range from residential to commercial, with some of them also being institutional buildings and outbuildings. Important buildings in the district include the Cadwalader House, Vaughan House, Red Lion Tavern, Wagonseller House, Joel Hawley Store, Edith P. Moore School House, and The Nurtury, which was formerly known as the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The Lionville Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
